Five Capitals Tour Around the Baltic Sea

This Baltic Sea tour will take you to five different countries - you will visit the Baltic States, Finland and Sweden. There is a short ferry ride across the Gulf of Finland and one night in a Baltic Sea cruise ferry on the way to Stockholm. And just imagine the view of Stockholm archipelago you will see while you are having breakfast in the morning... on the cruise ferry!

Day 1. Arrival in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Transfer to a hotel. Dinner. Optional evening activities on request.

Day 2.  Walking tour of Vilnius Old Town: the Town Hall Square and Vilnius University, the oldest university in The Baltics, dating back to 1579; walking down Pilies street to the Cathedral Square with Gediminas’ Tower up on the hill right next to it, where according to a legend the city of Vilnius was founded; visiting gothic St. Anne’s church and historical-architectural ensemble of Bernardines, and other sights. Lunch. Afternoon tour to Trakai, a former capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania with a beautiful castle in one of the islands of Lake Galvė. Dinner and optional evening activities.

Day 3. Departure to Riga, the capital of Latvia. En route stop in Kaunas – the second largest city of Lithuania – to visit Kaunas Old Town: Kaunas Castle from the 13th century, Town Hall square, Cathedral, and other sights. Lunch. Further drive to Riga with a stop at the Hill of Crosses, a unique place with thousands of crosses. Arrival to a hotel in Riga. Dinner. Evening activities on request.

Day 4. Tour of Riga Old Town: walking by the Riga Castle, the Three Brothers, visiting the Dome Cathedral and St. Peter’s church, Livu Square with the old Guild Houses and Town Hall Square with the House of the Blackheads, and other sights. Lunch. Afternoon departure to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Arrival to a hotel in Tallinn. Dinner. Optional evening activities.

Day 5. Walking tour of the walled medieval Tallinn Old Town: Toompea hill with a magnificent view of the Old Town and the Baltic Sea; walking down the narrow streets to the Town Hall Square and passing the Guild Houses of this Hanseatic city; St Olaf’s Church with a spire that offers a panoramic view of the city; and other sights. Afternoon tour to Kadriorg Park and Palace which Peter the Great built for his wife Catherine three centuries ago. Dinner. Evening activities on request.

Day 6. Ferry departure to Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Tour of Helsinki: visiting Senate Square and Helsinki Cathedral, City Hall, Presidential Palace, Temppeliaukio Church which is built in rock, and other sights. Lunch. Cruise ferry departure to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. Dinner and evening activities on the ferry.

Day 7. Breakfast on the ferry with a view of Stockholm archipelago. Arrival in Stockholm. Tour of Stockholm: visiting the City Hall where the Nobel Prize banquet is held every year; walking tour in Gamla Stan and Riddarholmen islands, visiting Storkyrkan (the Great Church), Riddarholmen church and the Royal Palace – world’s largest palace still used for its original purpose, and other sights. Lunch. Afternoon visit to Vasa museum which displays the original warship Vasa which sank on her maiden voyage in 1628. Dinner. Evening activities on request. Overnight in Stockholm.

Day 8. Tour to the Drottningholm palace, the private residence of the Swedish royal family. Lunch. Afternoon to explore Stockholm at your own pace. Dinner. Optional evening activities.

Day 9. Transfer to the airport in Stockholm. Departure.
